A columnar hedging tree perfect for exposed sites
Lombardy Poplar is a hardy plant that has a good resistance to harsh winds, so is a wonderful specimen for exposed areas (such as coastal gardens). Formally called Populus nigra italica, it grows large, vigorous, and narrowly columnas with green ovate leaves which can be purposed as a hedge. Before the leaves open in early spring, crimson catkins add ornamental value to the plant.
