A popular cider apple producing red fruits with a vintage, bittersweet taste
Malus domestica ‘Yarlington Mill’ is a popular cider apple tree that produces bittersweet fruits with a pleasant aroma. Reddish green in colour, these fruits are of a vintage quality, so are ideal for making single varietal ciders. Heavy cropping, and with an upright habit, the fruits of this tree will naturally fall to the ground when fully ripe. Interestingly, this specimen was first discovered growing out of a wall near a water wheel in Yarlington, Somerset in the 19th century! (explaining it’s memorable name).
